The cabin is thoughtfully designed and completely self-contained, running quietly on solar power and a 12 volt off grid system. You can recharge your phone, or a mid sized laptop. Inside, soaring exposed timber trusses give the space an airy, architectural feel, with warm plywood ceilings, quality timber flooring, a comfortable queen bed, and a small indoor sink. A private bathroom with shower and toilet is included, and a BBQ on the deck is yours to use. Quality linens and towels are provided.

But the real magic is outside. Soak in the cast iron clawfoot bath under open skies, surrounded by banana palms and the sounds of the farm — it's a genuinely rare experience. Pull up a bright yellow chair on the garden terrace and take in the sight of tropical fruit trees growing just beyond your doorstep.

Walk down the farm race to the bridle path, through the sand dunes and past the golf course and in less than 5 minutes you're on the wide open spaces of Uretiti beach. The Waipu Golf course is a 2 minute drive away, and it's five minutes to Waipu, where you can enjoy the cafes and museum. Marsden Cove and Ruakaka are 10 minutes further north. Whangarei, and the amazing Hundertwasser Centre are 25 minutes away. Explore the Waipu Caves, or the coastal trails, there's plenty to do within easy access of the cabin.
